Questions about the 2020-2021 School Year

We will be communicating information to parents and hope to answer some of the most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that you feel needs to be addressed, please feel free to contact the school at (702)-398-3233.

What is the first day my child will be attending class at Grant M. Bowler?
You should have received a letter indicating which teacher and cohort your child has been assigned. If your child is in Cohort A, they will be attending school in the building beginning Monday, August 24. If your child is assigned Cohort B, they will begin classes online through Canvas on August 24 but will not be in the building until Thursday, August 27. Classes for students in Cohort C will begin online on Monday, August 24.
Does my child have to wear a mask when they are at school?
We have been asked to wear masks when in the presence of each other and the public. At this time we will be following state recommendations.
Will my student be able to buy lunch at school?
Yes. You will need to pay online. You can access the website for lunch payments here. There will be no money exchanged at school.
Can my child bring lunch from home?
Students will be allowed to bring lunches from home.

Can my child bring a water bottle to school?
Yes. In fact, you may want to consider sending two full water bottles as the students are not allowed to access the drinking fountains in the building at this time.
What if my child has a cough but no fever?
If your child is showing any symptoms (fever, cough, congestion, breathing difficulty) they must remain at home until they are symptom free. Further clarification can be found here.
Can I give my child Aleve or Tylenol before they leave home for school?
Giving your child anything that will mask possible COVID 19 symptoms is not allowed. We need to identify students that could potentially infect other students and staff.

Can I send treats for birthdays?
Students are allowed to bring pre-packaged items. Absolutely no homemade treats to share.
Can I volunteer in the building and help my child's classroom teacher?
To reduce the risk of exposure and eliminate extra work in contact tracing, we are not allowing volunteers in the building at this time.
Will I be able to bring my child to their classroom?
Not at this time.
How can I help?
The PTO will be organizing several different drives to help us in areas which we can receive support from the community. Keep in touch with the PTO to learn about them as they happen.
